A food service manager will appear in every Dubai restaurant

The municipality of Dubai has ordered all food service establishments in the emirate to have a certified Food Service Manager in place since January 2011. Such a municipality order will be put into effect for the first time in the United Arab Emirates. Its goal is to improve the quality of service offered at all catering points in Dubai. The duties of the manager of the food service will include monitoring and control of food "security" and the quality of dishes served in restaurants, cafeterias and snack bars.

"All catering facilities, from restaurants in large hotels to small cafes, as well as food processing companies, will be required to acquire a certified food service manager," said Khalid Muhammed Sharif, director of the Department of Food Sanitary Control of the Dubai Municipality. “Such a manager can be either the owner of the establishment, or a specially appointed person, including the shift supervisor, the chef and other specialists who are constantly present at work, are involved in the cooking process or have the right to control those employees who work in the food warehouse and the kitchen, put food on the counter or serve it. "

In order to receive a diploma of a food service manager, it is necessary to undergo a special training that will be conducted by British companies - Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC), TSI and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. The cost of such training of the first level will be 250 dirhams (US $ 68), the second level - 500 dirhams (US $ 136). The diploma received after training will be considered valid for five years. The training will begin in December this year.
