"Red tide" stopped the operation of a desalination plant in the UAE

The Ghaleelah desalination plant in Ras Al Khaimah suspended its activity due to the spread of the red tide phenomenon along the northern coast of the emirate.

The authorities note that this closure is temporary and the plant will begin its work immediately after the disappearance of the "red tide".

Currently, the authorities are doing everything in their power to provide fresh water to the population of the affected areas of the emirate. According to residents of the region, most of whom are fishing, the "red tide" causes enormous damage to their well-being. The need for fresh water forces them to spend money on its purchase, since the authorities are not able to provide residents with adequate water.

In addition to problems with water, there are still problems with electricity in the area - residents of the Ghaleelah district filed complaints with the relevant authorities of the emirate three times in connection with the interruption in the supply of electricity for an average of ten hours.
