The first batch of new double car numbers will be sold at auction in Dubai.
The Dubai Highway and Transportation Authority (RTA) on Saturday unveiled a new generation of license plate numbers that will arrive early next year.
The first batch of new double rooms will be launched at an open auction, which will be held December 9 at the Westin Hotel (Habtoor City).
This set includes 10 one-, two-, three-, four- and five-digit numbers of the AA series, namely 7, 10, 12, 100, 333, 786, 1000, 8888, 77777 and 55555.
Mattar Al Thayer, CEO and Chairman of RTA, said: “This new initiative underlines RTA’s willingness to meet the needs of customers seeking distinctive license plates, especially since the supply of single numbers is about to be exhausted.”
He added: "The new design of car numbers is accessible and easy to read from a distance ... RTA will begin to replace existing car numbers with new ones from February 2018."
