Abu Dhabi police arrested a truck driver who was involved in a mass accident with 22 injured.

Abu Dhabi police arrested a truck driver who became one of the participants in the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Road accident on Tuesday, February 6.

Recall that the accident occurred due to fog on the road. During the incident, 44 cars collided and 22 people were injured.

Ali Halfan Al-Daheri, director of the Central Police Department of Abu Dhabi, said the truck driver was arrested in connection with non-compliance with the ban on driving heavy vehicles during rush hours and in unstable weather conditions. He added that the driver also endangered the health and safety of others and caused significant material damage through his actions.

At the end of last year, a ban was introduced in Abu Dhabi on the movement of heavy trucks on main roads during peak hours - from 6:30 to 9:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00.
