Two car numbers at an auction in Dubai were sold for more than a million dollars.
The W22 and T32 license plates were sold at the 98th auction of the Dubai Highway and Transportation Authority (RTA) on Saturday for AED 4.3 million ($ US 1.17 million). W22 became the most expensive item - 2.62 million dirhams ($ US 713 thousand).
In addition to double-digit numbers, three-, four- and five-digit numbers were offered. Among them, the leader was T88888, sold for 710 thousand dirhams ($ US 193 thousand).
"We are pleased to have completed another successful auction, and we are pleased with its results," said Abdullah Yusuf Al Ali, general director of the RTA licensing agency, adding that the agency is looking forward to offering even more attractive signs.
