Dubai Cove is about to enter UNESCO registry

Dubai Cove is on the list of nominees for inclusion in the UNESCO register.

Dubai, UAE. Dubai Cove is on the list of nominees for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage Register. The water artery and its environs - the Deira and Bar Dubai districts - became one of the 30 nominees.

Among its competitors are the Naumburg Cathedral in Germany, one of the oldest cities in Oman - Kalhat and the city of Medina Azahara in Spain. The 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee takes place from June 24 to July 4.

By UNESCO standards, a place receiving World Heritage status should reflect the historical events, traditions, livelihoods and culture of the region in which it is located.

For more than 100 years, Dubai Creek has served as an important transport and commercial artery and preserves the heritage of Arabia. She was also called the "soul and heart" of the emirate. It was around her that the city was formed.

Dubai is applying to UNESCO for the third time. Assignment of World Heritage status can positively affect the international tourism industry. Other UNESCO sites (such as the Great Pyramids of Giza) attract tourist flows to their countries.
