Dubai school fees will rise

Tuition fees in Dubai may increase for the first time in two years.

On March 25, 2019, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammad bin Rashid al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, approved new rules for collecting tuition fees.

In 2019-2020, private school operators are allowed to raise prices by a maximum of 4.14%, depending on their performance rating. The increase in fees is allowed for the first time in two years.

To calculate the allowable growth rate of power, a complex formula is used that stimulates lagging institutions to improve performance. If they show good results, such schools will be allowed to increase their fees to the maximum possible value.

"The new tuition fee system will encourage schools to increase efficiency and maintain the desired level of quality in accordance with the annual audits and price index of the Dubai Statistical Center. No private school will be able to raise fees if its rating drops," Sheikh Hamdan said on Twitter .

Over the past seven years, 76 new schools have opened in Dubai, in which more than 80 thousand students studied. Of the 166 private schools tested in 2017-2018, 14 were rated as excellent, 27 as very good, 68 as good, 51 as acceptable, and six as weak.
