Parrot Show 21

SIX DAYS A WEEK, THREE DAYS A TEAM OF 21 HUNGING DEMONSTRATES ADULTS AND CHILDREN THEIR COMPLETE HUMAN ABILITIES. A SHOW OF EXOTIC BIRDS APPEARED IN THE DUBAI DOLPHINARI ALMOST A YEAR BACK, AND Ever since, FIRST BIRDS HAVE GATHERED FOR HIS HALF-HOUR PERFORMANCES FULL VISITING HALLS.

In total, there are more than 360 parrot breeds in nature, and today eight different species of birds live in the Dubai Dolphinarium bird park. They all came from a Malaysian nursery and in a short time learned to draw, play basketball, collect words, ride a bicycle and fold constructors. “Each participant in the show rehearses for 4-5 hours a day,” says Ornithologist trainer Trail Stoker. “The bird’s abilities are individual: someone needs five minutes to learn a number, others some months. Parrots and other animals, it’s impossible to teach movements opposed to their nature. But the most difficult thing for them is to add up. ”

Parrots are known to have a unique skill: unlike other birds, they are able to pick up food with their claws and put it in their mouths. Thanks to this skill, birds can greet and even show their interlocutor the “V” sign.

Of course, the main distinguishing feature of parrots is their ability to imitate human speech. There are many jokes about this: for example, "we do not have talking parrots, but there are woodpeckers who know the Morse code." They constantly communicate with each other with the help of screams - warning or informing. In communication with a person, a parrot on average remembers 10-15 words, regardless of language. However, most often parrots do not understand what they are saying, and are not able, for example, to build a complex proposal or ask a question. They only reflect sounds, adapting to the environment.

Usually parrots live about 75 years, but are able to live up to the centenary. In the Dubai Dolphinarium they are fed with a special mixture of fruits, vegetables and seeds, regularly weighed and taken tests - artists must be in shape. A parrot is a friend of man, but at the same time he remains a wild bird. "Parrots are afraid of everything that scares them in wildlife. For example, they can see a flying balloon and take it for an eagle. They are scared by loud sounds and sudden movements. But, for example, we taught them not to be afraid of camera flashes," notes Trail.

The most restless of the inhabitants of the bird's corner - 15-year-old Jordan, which gives a bright red plumage. Unfortunately, he cannot fly due to injuries sustained at an early age, but he pedals the bicycle confidently. His neighbors are no less bright couple Tom and Jerry: the workers of the show are looking forward to replenishment in their family.

Behind the scenes is always noise and din: what the birds are talking to each other, one can only guess. But they communicate constantly. They probably share news brought on their own tail, or tell fresh jokes!

The show of exotic birds takes place in the Dubai Dolphinarium daily, except Sunday, at 12.15, 16.15 and 19.15
