Book of Nemat Kelimbetov "I do not want to lose hope" published in the UAE

The presentation of the book of the Kazakh writer Nemat Kelimbetov “I do not want to lose hope”, which was first published in Arabic, took place in the building of the Association of Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of Dubai.

The ceremony was attended by Kairat Kelimbetov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Bilal Al Bdur, Deputy Minister of Culture of the UAE; Askar Musinov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to the UAE, as well as representatives of large companies in the United Arab Emirates, diplomatic missions of Russia, Afghanistan, Kurdistan and others.

As Kairat Kelimbetov noted in his speech, this cultural event is another step towards strengthening strategic relations between Kazakhstan and the UAE, which have recently crossed a 20-year milestone. “As far back as the 10-13th century, cooperation between Central Asia and the Persian Gulf developed intensively. Then they were historically lost, but resumed after gaining independence. Today political and economic ties cannot develop without culture, so we are building up cooperation in this area. Active exchange of experience between the ministries of science, communication between universities is developing, books are being translated, "the deputy prime minister explained, speaking about the development of bilateral relations. He also emphasized that the translation of the book “I Do Not Want To Lose Hope” is a successful experience of rapprochement between the two peoples through the acquisition of common values.

"The book, first published by my father in the 80s of the last century, became the hallmark of his creative work. It is very popular in Kazakhstan and today, thanks to translation into many languages of the world, has found a new audience. In turn, readers have the opportunity to learn more about Kazakh history, traditions and culture, "Kairat Kelimbetov said.

Excerpts from the book were read during the presentation, and those present were able to share their impressions of what they read. The monologue novel “I Don't Want to Lose Hope” is the story of the tragedy experienced and a collection of philosophical thoughts about life. After an unsuccessful operation, Nemat Kelimbetov was bedridden for 10 years, but a serious illness did not break the writer and did not deprive him of the desire to live: throughout all these years he was engaged in literary works and translations, continued his creative activity. The second part of the book is letters of testament to the son of the writer. Reasoning about eternal values is illustrated by works of folklore, including tales of the Sak, Hun and ancient Türkic tribes. A significant role in the book is assigned to the history of Kazakhstan, the prospects for its development and prosperity, in which the author believed. For this literary work, the Kazakh writer, Turkologist and academician Nemat Kelimbetov was awarded the prestigious prize of the European Society of Franz Kafka (under the auspices of UNESCO). He died in 2010 at the age of 73.
